 I know you need ads to make this system financially workable, but do you need ads with adult content that get me in trouble with my company?

Your organization's Internet use policy restricts access to this web page at this time.

Reason:
The Websense category "Adult Content" is filtered.

Yes. It's our goal to see you get fired as quickly as we can.

The particular image you linked to is actually a 1x1 pixel image used for tracking purposes. My guess is an overly sensitive filter flagged the tracking image as adult content so that it wasn't displayed (and thus being used to track you).

I'd bet, if you can get fired for this offense, your company has a strict "Acceptable Use Policy" for computers at work. If you're not supposed to be browsing the internet on a work computer, don't do it.

Many employers can have loose enough internet usage policies but still be firm or strict about certain content.

That said, the filters are often "wrong". I was blocked from nVidia's website at one time 'cause it was classified as "gaming". I need access for video card drivers. I submitted a ticket on that one and nvidia.com was added to the "okay" list. I've also gotten pop-unders for casino sites that were blocked as "gambling". As I recall, I got that from visiting CNN.com.

Thanks for your replies. Of course I was kidding about you intentionally trying to get me fired. I actually look at this and other forums as part of my work on keeping track of the electronics market. It was just disconcerting to see: blocked by websense!

Websense hah. I've seen false positives from Websense before. The one I really enjoyed was that Satelliteguys.us is not blocked in the Websense database but DBSTalk.com is and categorized as "chat" if I recall correctly. I had a good laugh at that one.

I don't know what filtering software is used at work, but for a while satelliteguys was blocked. It was labeled "chat" too. I could get in use http://IP_Address/ but the site doesn't like to use *relative* links apparently. Instead of a link for the forums being "/forums" or whatever, it was coded as "http://satelliteguys.us/forums".

I'm in the military.

When I was stationed in Korea, the filters on the military installations were very strict. They were so strict, in fact, that when you went to the Army Knowledge Online homepage, some of the sub pages contained within frames would be blocked out - and they were all army sites!

What's also funny, is where I work now, a world-renowned medical center where a lot of research and training occurs, I got blocked from a page where I was looking for Excel macros - and the reason that the filter posted was "education/research..." We don't want any of that going on around here, do we? ;)

Fortunately, satelliteguys is perfectly acceptable to the filters. :)
