For the last two days reception has been awful on both of my cars, I can drive miles with no signal.

I had this problem last year on my truck and it was an upgrade of the antenna that fixed it. But now I notice it on both my cars starting yesterday.

I would guess that the terrestrial repeaters in Las Vegas may have gone down, and you are seeing the true depth of inadequacy of satellite radio reception to a mobile receiver in the city.
I would say antenna connection or possibly TMobile or other mobile upgrades. TMobile did some upgrades a year or so ago around Tulsa and it was causing interference on older radios.
I'm going with T-Mo being the problem. It would be one hell of a coincidence that the antenna on both cars went bad on the same day.
I know they have been implementing some low band but that shouldn't affect the sat signal maybe they are adjusting the freqs on high band also.
The radios are fairly new both factory truck is 2016 and car is 2018.
This is what happened a few years back and I'll bet it's the same now.

Terrestrial repeaters for SDARS typically are at the top of tall skyscrapers. The repeaters for my area are at the top of what used to be known as One HSBC Tower, the tallest skyscraper in downtown Buffalo. My HughesNet installer was involved in the installation and set up and showed me pictures. In Boston, I remember reading they were at the top of either John Hancock Tower or The Pru. We don't have any tunnels around here, but last year I had no Sirius reception when in the Brooklyn–Battery, Lincoln or Holland tunnels in NYC.
Anyhow, without reading any the link, I'm guessing T-Moble's AWS @ 2.1 GHz is bleeding over with the 2.3 GHz spectrum allotted for SDARS
No need for a ground repeater in the desert
True, but there is that need in a big city with tall skyscrapers.
