I live in Houston, TX and was wanting to get a channel called STAR PLUS. Well doing what ever reasearch i was able to do i found out that the closest satellite that was airing this channel was = 180.0°E Intelsat 701 =. Now i was wondering that i can order the reciever and programming from them as they take Visa but is there a way to get reception. The satellite is both c and ku band. More information is available at the link below. Please let me know if there is a way to get reception. I am new at this and eager to try this out if there is a way possible. The next closest satellite is in Europe.

(this is one of the satellite company that provide the channel)
GlobeCast Australia DVB 20000 - 7/8
West hemi

If you click on the map to where Houston is, you'll see that the elevation is less than one degree, which means you'd have to mount it high enough to clear any obstacles. On top of that, the sat would need to be sending a signal in the direction, which is doubtful. It is likely pointing down to its area of intended coverage, rather than essentially sideways towards Houston. Some real experts could tell you a little more detail, but those are the basics, as I understand them. :no

Serial port on a Natsat/Pansat 1000 receiver, how do I use it?

Friends ... Newbie ... may be a stupid question
