Thinking of switching to Dish from DirecTv. Currently have a 5lnb DirecTv dish that runs to a multiswitch allowing 8 separate feeds. Would probably be interested in Dish's 722, 211 and 222 receivers. This would allow 3 HDTV hookups and two SDTV hookups. The dish for DISH tv would be the 1000.4(?). Do not want two dishes. Locals would be provided through DISH not OTA.

The questions are concerning reusing the existing cable and mounting the dish. Can the Rg6 cabling coming from the dish be spliced before going into one of their receivers or is a multisitch needed? Would Dish provide such switch? I would like to reuse the existing RG6 that already exists. Would like to be able to run cabling from Dish's dish to the point where the DirecTV switch is and either splice or use a multiswitch at this location. There would be no need to run new cabling to the tv's. Also, do not want the Dish to be mounted on the roof. Thinking maybe of anchoring into the brick on the side of the house or pole mounting. Does the 1000.4 dish inlcude a base for brick mounting or pole mounting? If pole mounted how does the dish attach to the pole and what size pole is needed? Thanks for any help.

Your setup would work fine without a multi-switch (1000.4 has 3 outputs, which all support dual tuners from a single cable) however, dish will not lease you all those receivers. You would need to purchase the 211 and pay the full installation cost of that receiver. whether or not the 1000.4 can attache to a brick wall depends on the angle the dish would have to sit at from that wall. Best to leave this question to the tech when he/she shows up. Pole mount for 1000.4 is the same pole as the one used for a dish 300/500/1000/500+/1000+/1000.2

Then the 3 RG6 cables from the dish can be joined at the existing feeds? Also, if Dish has a 4 receiver limit the receivers below add up to 3. Unless Dish counts the 722 or 222 as 2 receivers for each unit. The 722 for 1hd/1sd, the 222 for 1hd/1sd and the 211 for 1hd. Thanks again.

ture with a 722 211 and 222 wuld put you at 5 tuners.. but if you only need one hd dvr then go for the 612 ,211,222 . Im at 5 tuners all lessed and my last 722 was purchased.

If you lived in socal i culd do your 722k,211k,222 and give you OTA so u culd record 4 shows at once on the 722 and 2 shows on the 211 .
