So. Calif.
Hi,

I live in So.Calif and have had DirecTv from its inception. I have two receivers, a DVR and an older receiver. I am planning on renting a house in Hawaii for a month later this year and the house has no cable or satellite, and no over-the-air reception. I would like to take the old receiver with me, but taking the dish is not an option as it needs a 1.2 meter dish in Hawaii. Does anyone have a suggestion. Can I rent just the dish for a month. I can find only a Dish Network dealer where I am going, will a Dish LNB work with my DirecTv receiver.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

First of all a Dish LNB will not work with DirecTV equipment so that's a non-starter. I can't speak to renting a dish in Hawaii and would imagine you'd have to find somebody who would be willing once you got there. Sounds like a lot of trouble and work though for one month. Personally, and this is not meant to be critical, I'd ditch TV for a month and enjoy Hawaii.

A slingbox or something may be better (if you can get internet).

If you really want a dish, I'd venture you could buy one from a local retailer there (there are dish and direct reatilers). You would need the direct dish.

Figure at least $100 if you install yourself.
