Over the last 5 days the 522 has simply locked up requiring a hard reboot 6 different times. All were different circumstances. Once was just turning the unit on. TV2 had a purple screen. TV1 was black. Another time I had a program on pause for about 30 minutes. I was catching back up when the damn thing froze again. I have only had this piece for about a week. I am so fed up with this thing. I asked the CSR to provide me with a new 522 rather then a refurb and was denied. I asked to replace it with a new 625 and was denied again. I am ready to send Dish a fuming email. What is the CEO address?

ceo@echostar.com or ceo@dishnetwork.com should work but don't count on much satisfaction you are with DISH "Notwerk" and that seems to be typical with the 522 and refurbs. I stopped selling any thing by DISH other than 510 and 311. I love selling the entire Directv line of products have a very low failure/problem rate.

Yea I'm on my 2nd 522 in 3 Months , My first One last 2 weeks before it Locked up , but so far the replacement seems to be working fine
Wow, you guys are scarin' me! I've had my 522 since January, and the only problems so far are; it will crash and go into hard drive diagnostics if you push "Done" from the Daily Schedule screen. Hitting "Exit" does not cause this. Also, in March while I was on vacation, it erased all my programming, including some pay-per-view I was going to watch when I got home. :river

Well, I had someone from the exective offices call me. Very nice guy. I indicated that I have had nothing but bad luck with these refurbed 522's and would like a new unit in the box with the understanding that the 522 was replaced with the 625. He said he would look into it and call me back either Tuesday or Wednesday. I have attached some photos of the latest lock up issues this 522 has been having. It locks up with the following screen shots and will not unlock itself until I hard reboot it. I was up watching the Pepsi 400 last night in my bed and I had to go downstairs to reboot the P.O.S. 3 times plus I missed the finish of the race. ARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I've been seeing some weird issues with L239 the past few days. Normally I would attribute such behavior to faulty hardware but the same hardware never did any of these at the previous software release.

- On live tv, if I skip back or pause, I will experience audio drops every 15-30 seconds until I've had enough and catch-up back to live.
- It locks up for no reason. Today was the Monk marathon, I told it to record the 3 episodes I haven't seen yet. It got 10 minutes of one of them and sat locked up the rest of the day till I got home and rebooted it. It told me there was a serious hard drive error so I pulled the plug. If I'm extremely lucky it will actually survive long enough for a complete recording.
- All recorded events "disappear". They were actually still there somewhere as the box said it had only 41 hours available, and after a reboot they exist again. I've only seen this happen once, within 30 minutes of the above reboot.

The 522 is indeed an interesting device. When it works, it's the best thing since the automatic bread slicer. When it doesn't, it makes you want to repair it with a sledge hammer.

It happened again today. My 522 ate all my shows. Now it says "100 hrs available, 0 shows recorded." History shows 0 events. Wahh, wahh! !sadroll

Well, No call back from the executive offices. The gentleman said he would call back either Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. I'll give it to the end of the week.

Still no call back. I had my DVR on pause today and missed 1 hour of my programming again. I am soooo ticked off that they tell you one thing and then do not follow through.

The E.O. will not try to solve the problem. They always seem to give the lame "I will call you back on ... date." They are terrible to deal with, they believe in just delay tactics. Josh, Kristen, Judd - they just lie and do not listen, my favorite is they accuse me of not knowing how to operate the equipment. If you are dealing with one of the above, keep calling them back and do not let them off the line.

Funny. I talked to Judd. I am beginning to wonder if the extra $5-10 a month is worth switching to *D and their Tivo service.

I would look into it and price it out. The Tivo software is stable, much more so than E* by a large margin. A downfall is the slow guide for some people. But you can get a dual tuner Tivo for $50-100. Or free with promotions. Look at these forums on both sides I guess. All I can say is Josh (manager of Judd and Kristen) will not let those two give the customer any satisfaction (credit, replacement box, etc.) and they will all say whatever they can just to delay. They would always tell me they will work out a new compromise with me and it was always the same offer two weeks later. I have left numerous email messages and voice messages for them and have yet to receive a reply back. This department is a joke! Good luck whatever you do, be proactive with the E.O. though.
