Original Hopper to new Hopper 3 Smart Card info??

I got a new Hopper 3 and it didn't come with a smart card. Can I use my Original Hopper's smart card with it or do I need a new one from dish? TIA

It should not need a smart card. One is built in. Old one will not work.

There should still be one built-in. That slot is for any future upgrades, if necessary. For instance, the Smart Card built inside the Hopper 3 is likely a G4 model. (The white Smart Card, if it were a separate card.) If Dish ever feels the need to upgrade it to the new G6 Smart Card (the green one) then they would send one to put in that slot. The G4 Smart Card will still work for now, though. In fact, I am still using receivers that have the even older G3 (purple) Smart Card.
