OTA Local Program Info on the 622

I just got my 622 installed and am using an OTA antenna to receive my locals. I was wondering if there is a way to download the program info for the local channels for DVR purposes. Right now it lists them as "Digital Service."

I would like to be able to program my DVR to record shows that broadcast on the local station but cannot without the program info.

You have to subscribe to your locals with dish to get the guide data for your OTA locals.

That's disappointing. When I was with Voom, the program info came through on the antenna. Ah, the good ol' days.

IF no locals from Dish you can set a manual timer like a vcr with the time and date when you want it to record. You can even set it for once, daily, weekly, Mon - Fri.

I am missing some info as well. I do have locals from Dish, and also just about every other channel available.

I get info for most channels, but not WGNHD which I get off OTA. I get the info for the SD WGN.

This caused me to loose almost everything on my dvr when I set a 2 hour timer to record Smallville and Supernatural and it turned into a goofy screwup that was recording 14 hours later.

Titan TV

Go to Titan Tv and set up where you live and what programs you want. They give you all of the listings even those that just show digital service. Then you can set manual timers for the events you want to record. I have my locals and so most of the guide data is supplied but not a few, but with Titan I can get all the programinfo so I can set timers.

Just one word of clarification. Subscribing to the Dish Sat locals will get you guide data for your OTA locals. But only the main channels. Any sub channels of those OTA locals will still always have Digital Service on them.

They can carry the subchannels as well in the guide. If your subchannel has significant and regular scheduled programming, push Dish to carry it. E.g., when they finally added the WNET (PBS channel NY/NJ), they added 3 channels(sub) of info. And these channels don't have the same schedule as the primary analog WNET channel.

Wow, that would be GREAT!

I currently have at least 7 or 8 digital OTA locals, and each of those have 1 to 5 sub channels. So there are a LOT of sub channels with Digital Service as the only guide data. None of mine have guide data except for the top level (i.e. -01) for each one.

I have Locals LIL and some Locals OTA, and used to get the OTA program guide data, but it went away when L3.63 came out. Alas, it has never returned...:( :(

But manual times are the way to go when stuck with just "Digital Service." I have one programmed on Thursdays. Twice it has recorded as "Digital Service." But the next morning, the DVR lists it as "Recovered" in that their was some corruption with the recording, but the DVR has magically recovered it!

I still get guide data for the locals (at least the "00" and "01" channels) but when L3.63 came out I lost guide data for all the out of market digital locals that I receive via the OTA tuner. I have no idea why DISH changed this but they ought to include guide data for ALL the OTA stations that you can receive just like DirecTV does. Local guide data is something that DISH gets a big "F" (as in failure) on from me.

To further clarify, you only get guide data for those local channels that Dish offers via satellite. For example, in some markets, Dish doesn't have an agreement to broadcast the local ABC channel. Therefore, you won't get guide data for that same ABC channel if you pick it up OTA either.

I think I need to clarify my clarification.... :D

Example: My local NBC is WDTN. Dish offers WDTN (analog) via satellite. The guide data for WDTN-DT (remapped channel 2-1) is filled in by Dish in my program guide. The guide data for their other subchannel, remapped ch 2-2, is NOT filled in. It appears as "Digital Service" also.

Dish only fills in the guide data for the "primary" over-the-air digital feed. Is that correct ??

This is another conspiracy by Dish to try and *force* you to buy locals from them. I have no need to pay them for locals. It's a purposeful block of the OTA PSIP data. I know it's not reliable for recording since it only may go out a few hours but i'd at least like to know what's on when surfing. The 811 did this fine so they know how to do it, they just don't want to for the money. Dish Pig.
