Now, normally, I would have put this NBA section because it deals with basketball....BUT just because you can SUPPOSEDLY jump higher, it would make you a better basketball player?! Really?! I mean you STILL gonna have to put the ball in the basket AND there will be guys more than likely BIGGER than the special sneaker guy trying to block it.

Now if they can come up with a shoe that makes 70% of your shots to go in...now THERE is a product worth investing...:cool:

NBA: Players can't wear Concept 1s

Associated Press

NBA players were prohibited from wearing Athletic Propulsion Labs' $300 Concept 1 shoe, which is designed to increase lift.

NEW YORK -- The NBA is prohibiting its players from wearing a new line of sneakers that claims to increase vertical leap.

"Under league rules, players may not wear any shoe during a game that creates an undue competitive advantage," the NBA said in a statement Tuesday.

Athletic Propulsion Labs' $300 Concept 1 shoe employs a spring-based system designed to increase lift.

The Los Angeles-based company was founded by twins Adam and Ryan Goldston, both former USC basketball walk-ons whose father worked in the shoe industry.

The brothers said Tuesday that many NBA players, including about 30 percent of the rookie class, expressed interest in the shoes but they wouldn't reveal names because the players had signed with other companies.

I wonder if I buy these sneakers, at 5-8, 200 lbs...does that INSTANTLY make me a contender in the NBA slamdunk contest in next years All-Star weekend...?! LOL!

Considering most basketball players' vertical leaps range from 20-35 inches, 3.5 inches is a significant increase. It's the difference between blocking a shot and merely pawing at it, between making and missing a tip-in, between nine rebounds a game and 10 or 11. And of course, for legions of almost-tall-enough young men around the world, it is also the difference between clanging the ball off the front of the rim and finally gaining entrance to the exclusive club of Guys Who Can Dunk.

While the tests returned an increase of "up to 3.5" inches in vertical leap, Adam points out that number is just a baseline. "Our testing was with normal athletes, not the freakish athletes you'd see playing D-I, D-II, D-III or NBA ball," he explains. "So when guys with athletic ability put them on, they see an increase of at least four inches. We filmed a video for Modell's and one of these guys who'd never worn the shoes before, he literally got an eight-inch increase. The guy could never dunk with two hands before and with the shoes he could do it backward."

Putting spring-loaded Concept 1 basketball shoes to the test - Chris Ballard - SI.com

OK....according to SI, it can add "up to 3 1/2 inches to your vertical leap" ...I am calling "bull**** !!! LOL! I am still a pretty good athlete is relatively good shape and a decent basketball player. IF I could add "up to 3 1/2 of vertical leap" to my hops....I can dunk with 2 hands. 3 1/2 inches of vertical leap is ALOT...

I am officially call them, the VIAGRA of basketball shoes...!
