This is a specific issue that the OLDER 6-8 month old Pioneer VSX-1014 had with accepting the Toslink fiber optic digital output from the Dish 508 DVR Receiver (and I read also that there was a problem with the 501 and 510, but since I only own a 508, I could only personally verify the 508)

Those of you that were affected might remember that it was a specific combination of the 508 and the 1014 that would NOT send digital audio to the receiver.

People (including me, personally!) confirmed that the DISH Toslink output worked on other receivers, and the Pioneer 1014 Accepted OTHER Toslink input from other sources in the SAME Optical Data Jack. So we knew that the DISH DVR worked fine with other receivers, and the Pioneer 1014 worked fine with other Digital inputs. However, they did not talk to each other.

Well, I can confirm from personal experience that the Newer Pioneer Receiver, the VSX-1015 DOES INDEED work with the DISH 508's Toslink fiber data jack. (And I am very happy that I have a digital audio connection, once again!)

BTY, the Pioneer VSX 1015 is a really great value in a "high end" receiver, if anyone is interested!
