Problems with Hopper

When attempting to playback a recorded program it works fine for about two minutes then picture and sound freezes. Then the screen goes black. After a minute or so it comes back to life with the startup screen. Doesn't act up on every show but it has done it five times in the last few days. Is the hard drive dying?

Another question. What is the best external hard drive for the Hopper? The DVR is about 60% full and I'd hate to lose the recordings if the DVR has to be replaced. Not a big fan of Western Digital. Thanks

Well... If you won't go for WD of which I have nearly 10, then I can recommend my 6TB Seagate USB 3.0 Backup Plus w/Hub which has served me well for years on my H3. I thought I got mine for $80, but the Amazon price below makes me think I'm dreaming.

How full is your hard drive? If over 70%, you need to allocate them to an external HD, or delete some...

How long have you had your Hopper, and what model is it? Usually a standard "Hopper" refers to a Hopper 2000 aka Hopper 1. If it is this, it's probably a bad hard drive.

It's at 59% full and is a Hopper 3. I believe it's around 4 years old.
