I have programming codes which allow you to skip ahead 30sec and back 15sec in dvr mode. I have used this on a Comcast remote in Colorado and just used it on a Time Warner Atlas remote in California.

I assigned mine to the PIP channel + ahead 30sec. - Back 15 sec plus I already have a dedicated back 7sec button enjoy!:D

Here's a commercial skip trick for the DVR. Find a button on your remote that is not used. I chose the PIP +button. Follow the instructions and you'll have a new button that skips forward 30 seconds each time you press it.
  1. <LI class=MsoNormal style="COLOR: navy">Press Cable button
  2. Press and hold the Setup button till you see 2 blinks on the Cable button
3. Enter 994
  1. <LI class=MsoNormal style="COLOR: navy">Press and release the Setup button again <LI class=MsoNormal style="COLOR: navy">Enter 00173
  2. Press the button you want to use for the 30-second skip
Same instructions for 15 second rewind if you overshoot where you want to go. Instead use code 00179 and the PIP - button
