So I guess if you turn on your PS3, have problems connecting to PSN, and your date is strange, this is affecting you, and you should probably just 'wait and see' to resolve it.

PlayStation Network down, so are lots of PS3s (update) -- Engadget

I have a fatty just got done playing some BFBC to war up for BFBC2 which will be delivered Tuesday. No issues connecting to the PSN for me. That really sucks for those having them.

You're lucky then, looking at Twitter, there are people who don't even use their PS3s online, their consoles aren't starting games, they're spitting out an error code.

From another random post i saw linked on Twitter:

Had no problem playing Dragon Age yesterday morning, and my trophies worked fine.

Couldn't log into Netflix last night from the PS3 though, did work from the PC, so was only a PS3 thing.

Hope they get this resolved by tomorrow so I can play Heavy Rain when I get home from the hospital. Then again, I could just use this as an excuse to play ME2 or BioShock 2 more, or perhaps even just spend time with my new daughter. ;p

Yeah I was locked out of Heavy Rain last night too. Kinda sucked, I am hooked on it.

Apparently people are having luck fixing this by removing the internal battery for a few minutes. I guess this voids your warrenty though. Apparently the RTC chip has a bug that thinks there is a leap year this year, removing the battery causes it to reset. I have read several places online that says it should be fine again at midnight GMT tonight.

Yep, I tried to get online last night and got bounced by the PlayStation Network. I even registered a foreign account to see if I could get on another server - no luck. I'm kind of surprised to see the problem has not been corrected.

Going to be quite a project to get a firmware update to every single PS3-fat user if that's what it's going to take to fix. Could allow those consoles to connect to the PSN, but there are people who have never connected their PS3's (or lack the ability to do so) that also need to be fixed.

Latest update from Sony: Latest info on PlayStation Network Status – PlayStation.Blog

Basically, wait another day, and you shouldn't use your system (due to potential trophy/save game shenanigans), and watch the blog for details.

I understand that the PSN browser does work, as long as that's working then a firmware update will fix the issue.

i too have psn network error 8001050F

i changed my time to manual and reset it to 3/1/2010 cst

yesterday it did say 12/31/1999

ill continue to fold until figured out

hopefully changing time to manual and correct time, then folding till problem is fixed, doesn't cause more issues.

Everyone remember the Sony fanboys ridiculing the Microsoft fanboys when Zunes went on the fritz for a similar issue on New Year's Eve 2008?

Your turn for the bully from The Simpsons audio drop...

OK, since I know it felt lousy on my end when my Zune wasn't working, I hope they fix it soon for you PS3 fans....

how do you download a update if you cant connect to psn? that seems strange to me.
It's not the ideal solution, but since PS3 allows for upgrading via memory card they could always post something on their website and have users install new firmware via that. Nice to see early adopters getting the best products...

I thought about manually changing the time to get my PS3 60GB operational on the PlayStation Network, but I read an article somewhere in cyberspace saying it could only be done with firmware. Do you now if this will fix the problem? Regardless, I will try it this evening.
