Hello, I will be getting HD Dish Network installed at my apartment next week, and on my e-mail, it says that the receiver that will be installed is 'RCVR 211/411 HD SOLO', and I am wondering what cables come with it? Is it component cables? Is it an HDMI cable? Because if it doesn't come with an HDMI cable, I would like to order an HDMI cable from monoprice.com so I can have it by the time my HD Dish Network is installed.

Thanks!

Probably will NOT come with an HDMI cable. Experience varies. Monoprice has very good prices, you can get what you need quite reasonably.

DO NOT accept a 411. Go out to the truck and demand (politely) to see what receiver he brought, before ANY work is done. It should be a ViP211. The 411 was produced in small quantities, is almost orphaned, and IIRC has no Ethernet port. You may one day want/need that port. Do not let the installation proceed if it's a 411. Do Not accept any promises that it'll be swapped out later.

The 211k's in our region now come with an HDMI cable in the pack out, along with composite (RCA) cables. Also starting to see them in 222k's and some 722k's.

For the couple of bucks that an HDMI cable costs at Monoprice, I'd go ahead and order one, if for nothing else as a spare....

After I had read the first couple of posts, I was about to order an HDMI cable, but I checked this thread again and saw that Jimmerinwi said that the 211's are coming with HDMI cables. I think I'll just wait, since the cable I want is $4.23, and shipping is over $5.00, I'll just wait and see if it comes with one. Thanks for everyone's input guys and gals!http://www.satelliteguys.us/member.php?u=127268

If you do not have one onhand, and he does not bring one, you might get connected in a less than optimal way, and may have to redo that part of the installation yourself. Are you comfortable with that?

Ten bucks sounds awfully reasonable, and I have had need for spare HDMI cables.

Well I do have an HDMI cable for my Xbox 360, so I'll just let the installer use that cable, and I'll just keep swapping it out for the days in-between not having the other HDMI cable. But thanks for the incite.

Don't even worry about getting a 411. They just aren't out there anymore. Odds are you'll be getting a 211K.

Hi, I just happened to come across this forum and noticed that you say "do not accept a 411".

I am looking to better my Comcast outrageous rates, and went online to Dish to compare and saw that my order would come with a "RCVR 211/411 HD SOLO"

So if I order their service, I should not accept the 411? Thanks for any advice.

Chances are there will be obe, and if there isnt it so easy to switch out youself, jyst plug in both ends of the cablr and change inputs on your tv. Walla, you are watching with the hdmi.

It is exceedingly unlikely that a 411 would be delivered to you. HOWEVER, I would tell the rep when ordering that I would not accept a 411, and go to the truck that arrives and ask to see the box BEFORE any work is done. If it says 411, as opposed to ViP211, I'd refuse the installation and tell him why. Under NO circumstances let him install and he'll "swap it out later." He won't. But again, seeing a 411 these days....... Really unlikely.

Best to you, and may you enjoy the service as much as I have!

Hey Dishman1978

Sorry but after the incite/insight above I couldn't let it pass ... you meant voilà, which is French for "here it is", not Walla.
