Many here have reported daily disk maintenance on their 522. I'm just wondering, how do you know this? Are people up at 3am watching these things going on? Of is there some other indication? I'm just wondering if mine is doing this too, and I simply don't know it. Not that I care all that much - until recordings start disappearing like some have reported.

If you are anything like me, your TV viewing ranges throughout a 24 hour day. Sometimes it does run into the 3AM(or whenever you schedule it for) disk mantenance.
Mine is set for 5 AM. It is the least likely time for me to be watching.
MENU-8-5 will tell you when yours is set for and if it is ENABLED or not. I'd bet it is.
