Anyone out there listen to railroad transmissions? Here, using the dongle, there's always some activity from about 160 - 162 MHz, from freight to commuter lines. Some evenings can even hear comms from the NYC Transit Authority. Below is the screen capture from this morning using the dongle SDR.

RR comms are like aero comms, they have their own lingo and keep it short and sweet. You have to be quick with the mouse clicker hi hi.

Trains in this county have been shutdown for a couple of years. They went through last year and repaired the rails, etc. Said it was coming back, the factories were all excited about it. Plus said they were going to bring in a tourist train, since I live right in the heart of the smokies. Then all of a sudden they went silent and don't know what happened with that deal.

What this country could use is more rails for tourism, commuting etc. We had a commuter train to NYC that stopped running in 1960. And like your town Michael there is talk about starting up the commuter line again. Funny thing is the old train station is now a bank hi hi.
