Receive can not remember saved satellites?

Hi,

Finally I get all the channels using USALS, it is so cool. Thanks for all of your help.

I just find a problem, my Fortec lifetime Ultra receiver can not remember the new satellite settings I stored in. When I come back to the previous channel, I found it goes back to the default settings.

I believe the problem was asked before, but I just can not find it.

Any helps?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

by chance are you having problems with it actually steering the dish?

is it a steering problem ie when you go from g10R to like amc etc... the dish does not move.....

If that is so it seems that you may be in the same boat that I was in....

I had a microyal mover and a fortec star.... It would find usals but I had to switch to digiseqc 1.2 and bump east west for a lot of sats, then I had to store them in the movers memory so that when I changed Channels it would move the dish... It works good...

BTW if using a microyal mover, it has 60 pos. in memory but only 20 are from the factory.

Hope this gives a little insight.....

Thanks for your tip.

The problem I have is that:

1. I input setup info for a sat (for example: G10R) in antanna setup window. Then using USALS, move to the sat (good) and power scan, find TPs and channels.

2. Setup the second one, same process, OK.

3. watch TV programs in the first sat, the motor (dish) doesn't move, screen tells no signals.

4. goto antanna setup window, find the info I input for the first sat goes back to default.

5. try several sats, find out it sometimes "remember", sometimes "forget" the setup info.

Any helps?

Thanks

Mike

PSB clued me in on the asnwer to this one.

Factory reset your receiver, and then the first thing to do it go and delete all of the transponders but 1 on each satellite you want to receive. Then re set up your system.

Seemed to work for me,

yep
I remember when I worked with a Fortec at Petes house we did that...There were so many TP's stored that it kept boggin it down

Sounds great, thanks wholeshoe, Iceberg.

Before I do this,

1. Will I lose the reference position? or do I need to move my dish to the reference position?

2. if I am going to delete all the TP except one - the live one or doesn't matter.

Regards,

Michael

I think that you will, You could try to just delete the TP's first without the reset, I didn't try that.

dont delete any motor settings

I know on the Pansat I can go into
Installation
Edit Satellite/TP
select a satellite
start deleting TP's

I would leave one active per satellite

Great, I will try this.

1. I will not do the factory default - it will delete all the info include the motor setting.

2. I will delete all the TPs but 1 for each satellite.

- I believe that's all I should do!?

Thanks for your help, I will post the results tonight!

Hi,

I deleted TPs first on G10R, but accidently I deleted all the TPs on G10R. The receiver float and turned off automaticly. I turned on and find out all TPs on G10R still there, no single one got deleted.

I was very careful to delete all TPs but 1 on G10R. Then I did the power scan on G10R, got all channels. The Sat info is remembered!

I tried next one AMC1, the same process. When I came back, it lost the Sat info.

I will try more today.

What version of Firmware is installed in the Fortec? An early version had some isues with this. Are you using USALS for all satellites or is DiSEqC 1.2 mixed in?

To perform a complete reset go to Factory Settings, Press OK, Menu, I (info), 1668

The receiver will reset to factory settings.

Also reset the SG2100

Select satellite and USALS then reenter your Longitude and Latitude.

You shouldn't need to delete any TPs in this process.

If you need addditional assistance PM me and I will have one of the techs talk you through on Monday.

Thanks SatelliteAV.

My Fortec Lifetime Ultra: boot ver 6.1, Nov 1, 2004. Normally I use USALS, but maybe some of satellites I setup early may still have 1.2 setup. Do you think mixed USALS and 1.2 can cause problems?

I think the receiver can store the info now. What I did is that:

1. As I don't want to lose my setup info, I didn't do the factory reset.

2. delete all the channels for all satellites.

3. delete all the TPs but 1 ( it is good to have a live one, but not required) for all satellites.

4. Do the power scan for the Satelltes.

When I was deleting the TPs for each satellite stored in my receiver, I find a lot of TPs are not alive. The reason my receiver can not store my satellite setup is , I suspect, that the receiver doesn't have big enough memory, so the info I entered is lost. When I deleted unused TPs, I release memory space for the info I enter. This is jus I guess, but I do solve my problems any way.

Again, thanks for your offer help, SatelliteAV.

fortec ultra lifetime problem

I had a fortec ultra lifetime that did exactly what yours is doing now, except first it would not send diseqc commands to the motor or switch. I did factory resets and reboots until i was blue in the face. I contacted fortec and they told me to install their latest version of firmware that was available on their website for free with the installer program to run on windows xp pc. I downloaded the software and used a usb to serial cable adaptor and downloaded new firmware version 6 or 6.?. something. This did repair the diseqc problem in that it would turn the motor and control the switch. I thought all was good. WRONG!

I deleted all tp's but one for each bird that I knew was active. I scanned g10r first, then telstar 5 or IA-5, amc-4, g3C. after the power scans were finished I organized my channels by satellite location and of course used usals. all was good for a moment.

When I switched to a channel on a different satellite the motor started moving east and west. I re-booted and all sat positions in the setup menus were lost and the menus read crazy stuff like "enregistar" and scrambled up words in menu fields that did not belong. I did a re-boot(almost literally-LOL)
and then channels were missing. I even re-flashed it again with fortec software and it said it was a successful transfer. It still did the same stuff so I gave up on it. I gave the box to my cousin who uses it for g10r with a fixed dish and single lnb. No problems there.

I was very unhappy with this box, I think I bought a lemon. I now have a pansat 2500A and have had very little problems so far.

Once for some reason my sg-2100 motor was drifting west a degree or so every time I would move the dish very far from one sat to another and I would have to tell the receiver to "go to reference" and then go outside and use the manual east/west button to center it back on "0" degrees. After that I would use a paperclip and reset the diseqc motor then re-boot the receiver.

after that this has not happened again. Hope this helps. :)

I did the way I talked above and it has no problems so far in two days (keep going ..., please ). I can move the dish to any channels in any sat.

When I switched to a channel on a different satellite the motor started moving east and west. I re-booted and all sat positions in the setup menus were lost and the menus read crazy stuff like "enregistar" and scrambled up words in menu fields that did not belong.
I didn't get it here: why did you reboot the receiver if your dish can move east and west? Does the dish move to wrong position? If you reboot it, of course you will lose all the info. "enregistar" is the default setting for some Sat.
