What is a good receiver to get FTA?

Can you be more specific about what you want to do with it? Are there budgetary considerations, etc?

What features are you looking for? There are standard-definition only receivers, and there are HD capable receivers. In the subset of HD receivers, there are DVB-S only and others that do DVB-S2 as well. There are receivers that do studio profile (4:2:2). Some have PVRs and some do not. Some blind scan and some do not.

i just want to get my feet wet this is new to me,something thats has blind scan and easy to program, can u get them plug and play, sports and wild feeds, i got to have something to do with my to two buds if 4Dtv DIES. Any good books on FTA, just trying to get info, new kid on the block.

If u dont want to spend too much say on an Azbox model then I'd go with a Coolsat 8000
look on ebay for some and they come and go there quick

The higher end Azbox's are amazing units, the low end are the same low end as other receivers imo.

Are you interested in feeds ? 4:2:2 is nice for that, so is blindscan.

If your only interested in allways on channels then 4:2:2 and blindscan arent as necessary. HD and mpeg-4 (h.264) are still imo nice though as more and more is moving to that, plus it looks great right
