ok how to? :)

There has to be a way!

How can I record a DVD (or any video source) on to my 942 / (or later on the vip) ?

The closest I have gotten so far, is to use an rf converter and mix the signal, then added the analog channel to my list.

This allows me to 'see' an external source on one of the tuners (or pip), but I can not record the signal.

So, my first question to solve this problem is, is there a device that will allow you to convert a video source to atsc, and then mix it with the antenna-in ?

Can't be done. The sat boxes record digital streams only- ATSC or satellite.

So if you take it to your local TV station, it better go out on their ATSC signal, not NTSC.

On edit: boba is right. Good luck getting something at reasonable cost to convert NTSC to ATSC. Love to know if you find such a thing.

Thanks guys for the responses.

So I take it that no one has seen a consumer version of an x-to-atsc converter?

bummer ... but I'm not giving up yet ... there must be a way ...
