remote to receiver programming time warner

Can anyone help me? I have an old time Warner remote and a friend lost hers. I was wondering if it was possible and if so how to program the new remote to her time Warner receiver?

depends on how old. The new ones should just work. I have been able to interchange between SA, Samsung and Cisco boxes.
