Samsung is really pulling out all stops in phone/tablet manufacturing...
Here you can see an official 19 sec clip for its 7" tablet
Samsung Galaxy Tab gets official teaser video -- Engadget
It has mentioned September 2nd, Berlin, Germany - probably when it will be revealed at IFA.

Looks like they've decided not to wait for Chrome OS and go with Android Froyo.

Preview, as expected
Samsung Galaxy Tab preview -- Engadget
Everything in line with expectations. Has a 5GHz wireless radio for better coverage and Swype preinstalled.

Exactly half the size of the iPad: 18cm x 12cm vs. 19cm x 24cm
Probably the biggest form factor that can be held in one hand.

No official word on pricing.

EDIT:
Not only is it half the physical size, it also weighs half as much and some rumors put its price at half that of the iPad: ~£200 vs. ~£400
That would be really nice! But just like many new products in this category lately, it will launch in Europe first (Italy) and show up in NA "later this year"...

Running Froyo (GPS, Google Maps, Navigation, Tethering), dual WiFi radios and capable of playing almost any video, it can make the perfect car computer!

If it's really half the price, I think we'll probably get one, I expect it to be a little further north of that though, and I want to try one out before making a purchase, and if it can be customized half as much as my phone can.

I was all set to get the Streak.
But this tablet made me think again: the Tab is certainly NOT a phone
but EVERYTHING else I was hoping to do with the Streak, the Tab would be better for.
While being (possibly) cheaper. And Gingerbread ready.

And with a Bluetooth earpiece, it will do the occasional phone call, too.

I'm only onboard if they have a wifi only model and can bring the price down. I simply would like one, but cannot justify a monthly cost for cellular data and would not be taking it many places that don't have wifi.

From everything I am reading, it doesn't seem like Samsung is trying to compete with the iPad in the US. The US iPad has access to alot of stuff that I don't believe the overseas users have (netflix for example?).

I guess I am not really understanding who Samsung is targeting and why they don't appear to be doing a wifi only option.

It looks like a trend: the less dedicated the device is to being a phone, the less likely it will be introduced in the US first.

I think this has to do with the unique nature of the cell phone market here - selling mostly subsidized by the carriers handsets in exchange for lock-in.
Since not only the tablets, but even something like the Streak, have cell capabilities almost like an afterthought, trying it in GSM markets without subsidy traditions is a reasonable thing to do.

Lots of maneuvering to position the Galaxy Tab in the US market.

Despite getting introduced on 4 carriers networks, it won't be 4G on Sprint
Sprint Samsung Galaxy Tab won't have 4G -- Engadget

Unlike the European version of the Tab, the US version can't be used as a giant phone, i.e. no voice capabilities
Samsung Galaxy Tab loses voice capabilities in the US -- Engadget
I wonder whether this means VoIP won't work either. Not sure how this can be done...

The 3G capable Tab will require a contract, but WiFi only device is coming
Samsung Galaxy Tab WiFi-only version coming, 3G versions almost certain to require contracts -- Engadget
Looks like Samsung tries to avoid tension with carriers like Google had with its Nexus One.

Really interesting to see the pricing for the contract-less device.
