Id agree with you on 2 years then, maybe 3. These Oleds are a little different than plasma tiers, where you had features and black level separating the tiers. You kinda just have the same OLED's in certain sizes, flat and curved. I see pricing staying a little higher unless that changes, since they are all "flagships". Even the VT series plasma flagship launched every year well over $3k for a 65".

Yeah, 2 to 3 years, as long as my plasma continues to perform as well as it has, I'm not in a huge hurry. Let OLED mature, solve a few issues and the prices drop for a 65" to something between $1.5k - $2k and then I'll ponder it a lot more seriously... :)
While the maturity clearly isn't there yet, the prices are already in the middle of your price range if you shop around.

I see some 55" OLED below $2,000 but haven't seen a 65" that low.
My bad. You are right.

The 65" LED goes for about the same price as the 55" OLED. I wasn't much impressed by either of them but the OLED viewing angle was a huge step in the right direction for my square living room.
