Sorry if the RSN discussion has been going on for quite some time. I found this this morning. Sinclair and Bally’s Unveil New Logo and RSN Names | Cord Cutters News

Also, yesterday was the Minnesota Twins Baseball Winterfest. They stated in the broadcast that many fans were requesting that the Twins come back to Dish. They stated that there was a good chance there may be an agreement this year. With the merger of Sinclair and Bally it sounds very hopeful.

The only way I see the RSN's coming back is if they come back as a package deal with the Sinclair locals - and I wouldn't be surprised if there is some hardball being played for that. But in the end, can Dish go without Sinclair locals? I think that would be tough...thus the RSN's would come back.

That's nice.

Especially since Bally's and Sinclair have not "merged".

Bally's, a casino and on line sports betting company, has paid $85M over 10 years to brand the channels,

Looking forward to watching the Cleveland Indians on BS Great Lakes. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
The whole "BS" branding is unfortunate, as most systems will use a generic logo that will be "BS-geography".

Further the Ohio based teams situation continues to be odd. Previously there was "FS-Sportstime Ohio" with only the Indians and nothing else of merit in the off season. This gets renamed "BS- Great Lakes? While Cleveland is, of course, on one of the great lakes, so is Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, and Milwaukee. But like 5% of Cleveland's claimed territory is actually even in the Great Lakes drainage. Meanwhile the other channel was "FS-Ohio", now "BS-Ohio". With the Reds, Blue Jackets, and Cavaliers; and Columbus' but not Cincinnati's, soccer team, and extensive coverage of the Browns, but not the Bengals. While the Blue Jackets make little effort outside metro Columbus, the Reds, whose stadium is literally on the Kentucky border, have always been a regional team.

Would it not have made more sense to have taken the opportunity, to move the Cavs to the Indians channel, and BS- Northern Ohio, or BS-Cleveland makes more sense for a name, and let the Reds and BJs share, maybe, the much more inclusive "BS-Ohio Valley" ?

On the map linked in the first post, the placement of the team logos next to the channel logos seems to imply that is exactly what they are doing, although the article itself does not mention that. The placement of the team logos in Ohio on that map is a little odd, though, since it shows the Cleveland team logos in southwest Ohio, with the other teams' (Reds and Blue Jackets) logos in northeast Ohio. So, that is the reverse of where they should be. Also, the placement of the team logos next to the channel logos makes it hard to determine which teams go with which channel. Do you go from left to right (putting Reds and Blue Jackets on BS Ohio) or from top to bottom (putting Indians and Cavs on BS Ohio)?

There used to be a separate full-time FS Cincinnati channel, at least when Dish was still carrying the FS channels. It was always a mirror of the main FS Ohio channel, though, except for live games, and pre-game and post-game shows. It is not included in the list of rebranded channels, but it was also not specifically mentioned in the article as one of the feeds that is being shut down, either. So, it will be interesting to see what happens to FS Cincinnati (with new BS branding) if these RSN's ever return to Dish.

I am just glad to see the Great Lakes branding being used for something sports-related. I have thought for a long time that Great Lakes Conference would be a much better name for the Big Ten, since it now has a lot more than ten teams. Of course, some of those new teams are also outside of the Great Lakes region, so North Central Conference may be an even better name.

This Bally's branding looks stupid and sounds stupid. Just my opinion. Not to mention what others have already said- adding "BS" to any market looks bad too. I'm in BS-Kansas City, gee thanks Ballys!

Well, it's no more stupid than leaving them branded as Fox Sports, when they are long-since no longer owned by Fox. Some kind of rebrand was needed, and Ballys had the cash to pay for the naming rights. What would have been really ironic would be for Dish to have bought the naming rights instead.

Well, I should have clarified- I don't think rebranding was stupid. I think this particular rebranding is stupid.

I'm pretty sure that Sinclair was only allowed to use the "Fox" names for a limited time, and it really makes no sense for two companies to both call themselves the same thing. Note that there is now a "Fox Sports Go" app for Sinclair and a "Fox Sports" app for Fox and its national sports channels, which is confusing. I'm sure Fox still gets mail complaining about stuff Sinclair has done.

As to Ohio, "Cincinnati" is just an internal label Fox used for its Cincinnati coverage. It never has appeared on camera, just in channel guide listings. With the Indians now on a different channel and the Cavs now on in Cincinnati (they did not used to be) the only major differences between the feeds is that the Cincinnati feed includes the Reds (and BJs and Cavs) and the "main" feed includes Columbus soccer team, BJs, and Cavs.

As to college conferences, the only two that have a proper name are Conference USA and the American Athletic Conference, which are conferences and are in the USA/America. The Big 10 has 14 members; the Big 12 has only 10, only 2 of which are actually big; the Pac 12, while having 12 members, includes such Pacific states as Utah, Arizona, and Colorado; the SEC which includes such southeastern states as Texas and Missouri; the ACC has such Atlantic coastal cities as South Bend, Syracuse, Atlanta, and Louisville; the Mid-American has that quintessential Midwestern city of Buffalo, NY, while the Sun Belt includes the ski resort town of Boone, NC; while the Mountain West has three members in California and one in Hawaii.

Just ask the Patriots. When they first left the city of Boston the name was supposed to be the BS (Bay State) Patriots. It was quickly changed to the New England Patriots
Then later, when they were planning to move to Hartford, CT they wanted to keep the name New England Patriots. That move was also quickly scrapped, and they stayed put where they were instead.

And this year, without Tom Brady, they moved to the cellar..................and they're still called the Patriots.
