Software update in the middle of Agents of sheild

My recording of SHEILD was interupted for 5 mins due to a software update. Recording was split into 2 parts with 5 mins missing. Whats that about?

The show gets panned a lot but still has a loyal following. For me the best part is Lola.... the '62.

saw a message that i had received and update and that the guide was updating

I believe it says checking for important updates before it's nightly reboot, you may or may not actually get an update.

Was it the black screen with the white lettering? That's a part of the screensaver. My guess is that your Hopper randomly rebooted then you saw the guide update on the screensaver.

The Hopper has two kinds of updates: Firmware updates and guide updates.

The screensaver will say something along the lines of "Software S330 is currently up-to-date downloading guide data 50%." That's just a guide update that goes on daily.
