Software updates? Dish being sneaky?

  • Server Issues.

We are very aware that there have been system issues the past few days. In troubleshooting the system, it has been determined that the issue is at our provider and is hardware related. As of 12:05 PM ET our provider has moved us to a new server.

Things seem to be running better on this new server. However in trying to diagnose the issue (before finding out it was a hardware issue) we made some system changes which we need to undo. So if you find any issues or errors please let us know in the Operations Center Forum.

Thank you for your patience! Sorry for the issue!

Just noticed something odd...

New software for the 811 (version 2.66) was started back on 5/13... according to the threads in this forum.

Checking out the "current software" page at dish here:

http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/customerCare/technical/software_versions/index.asp

It shows 811 as having 2.66 released 5/18/2004

Are dish sneaking out "sub-releases" without us knowing...

The plot thickens! Consipiracy theorists take note!

Not to worry... The general concensus is that these updates that are all happening is to enable the 6000-6999 range of channels so that they can put Sirius music channels on your system.

Many have reported that (in addition to enabling the Sirius stuff), that Dish has also included *real* software updates in these releases, like the addition of OpenTV to the 721.
