Some Amazon kindle users due e-book refunds

Yup, was going to bump my thread about that lawsuit. The publishers that have settled are conributing $69m to a fund to refund people who were overcharged, if you purchased any Kindle books you may get between $0.30 and $1.32 back.

Haven't poked through the publishers to figure out a better figure, but at a glance as many as 30 of our ~45 purchases fall under the time frame. Many of our purchases (99% of them for my wife) are from Penguin Publishing though I think, which is deciding to ride along with Apple and go to trial. Maybe we'll get even more back from those since they didn't settle (yet).

I got an email from amazon saying I had been identified as part of the group of customers due refunds. They expect to apply the credit automatically in February 2013 when the settlement is finalized. It will be per book and the exact amount will depend on the final settlement terms. It will be credited to individual accounts and will be available to use on future purchases of kindle books or paper books.

It isn't only Amazon customers, but B&N and Apple customers also. I haven't gotten an email from Amazon or B&N, but did get one more generic appearing, but was about my iTunes account. Said I was 'pre-qualified' and that a later email would tell me how to 'activate' the claim and credits.

I expect I'll get something from the others at some point along the line.

Post the link and I'll merge this with that...

Surprised you all who buy lots of Kindle books didn't get the e-mail. It came here on Saturday 10/13.

You may wish to check your junk mail folder. I use Outlook and have a folder for all stuff from Amazon and that was correctly filed in that folder.

I know you probably bought many more Kindle books than I did. I only ever bought 4 in the last couple years on my iPAD ap. The last one was No Easy Day.

Anyway, I'm glad I posted it as it has a link you can follow.

Note- I have not followed up on this as I'm sure the credit will be hardly worth my time. I've been the recipient of many class action rewards and they have all been very very tiny.

I got the email from Amazon the other day. I buy a lot of Kindle books but not so much from the major publishing houses. It will be interesting to see what my credit looks like.
