The Sons of Anarchy spinoff is moving forward slowly but surely. Several months after FX confirmed the project, series creator Kurt Sutter has expressed that the new show — again set in the Northern California motorcycle club scene — is one step closer to happening.“Mayans MC spinoff just got one step closer. I’m very excited about this story. Dark and beautiful. #MayansMC,” Sutter tweeted. So far, details on the project are scarce. According to Entertainment Weekly, the developing series will focus on the Mayans, the Oakland-based Hispanic gang that had a rocky relationship with SAMCRO during the original show’s seven seasons. In the flagship series, the Mayans are led by Marcuz Alvarez and are involved with heroin factories and prostitution, so the spinoff will likely involve plenty more criminal businesses. No other specific about the project have been revealed just yet. The network hasn’t even confirmed if the new series will take place before the events of the original show or at some other point in the gang’s story. Still, it will likely come as good news to fans, who have been eagerly awaiting to learn whether there’ll see more of the Sons of Anarchy universe.
