Directv just installed new HD dish and receivers but claim that every tv needs a receiver and every receiver needs a homerun coax from the LNB. This effectively makes all the splitters in my pre-wired house useless and eliminates the ability to watch programing on 2 or more tv's off the same receiver. Is this correct?? Does the new SWM technology fix this problem? Why is SWM only being offered in 8 line configurations?

Anybody??

Yes, your Prewired home with a million splitters will need to be changed, unless you stay with cable.
NO Splitters allowed in a D* set up.
You need a straight shot to the recvr, the recvr works with voltage to the lnb do determine channel assignment.

SWM technology would fix this as you can get both tuners with one wire, but you STILL cannot have a cable splitter in the line.

Why do they only do 8 tuners ?
Probably because 90 % of thier subs need less than 8 tuners.
Also the fact that SWM is still new, so there may be other options in the future (expansion)
