Can anyone tell me if I drop the spot pack, will I still get the alternate channels where they put the HD feeds when all RSN's are carrying the same game in SD?

Yes you will. I canceled the sports pack after Redzone was turned off for the year. I still get the college sports in the ALT and HDALT channels whether my RSN is showing that game or not. You can still get most of the college basketball benefit of the sports pack without subscribing to it.
