Pastor Mellissa Scott, and her late husband, Eugene.

Seriously though, it is like model railroading, the hobby is partly in the building/technical things (especially getting my hands dirty, figuratively, sometimes literally), fabricating things, as well as watching the fruits of the labor.

FTA is great for the foreign language geek. The pizza delivery guys don't have a language lover's package -- it would cost quite a bit for a sub with 4 foreign languages. It costs quite a bit less with FTA, haha.

My top three reasons would be
1. It gets me into trouble....like I needed help lol
2. All the interesting channels
3. And most of all after the hundreds of dollars and hours spent on Fta, watching it is FREE!!!

Blind:)

1. So I can get the alternative talk radio networks on 97W at my other location where I don't have any internet. And since I do not have Direct TV there, the FTA TV networks as well.

2. Used to be into TV and FM dxing , FTA is kind of offshoot from that hobby.

3. Like to watch out of market stations or stations that the networks or Direct TV do not carry.

4. The technical aspect of it, like to learn anything electronic related.

1. sports feeds
2. news feeds
3. Doc Scott & Arnold Murray (Shepherds Chapel)....2 old guys preaching :)
4. The oddball channels out there
5. PBS in true HD...not compressed HD
6. the sports feeds ;)
7. until Equity went belly up, those stations rocked! Sure there were glitches but they were great for out of market shows and sports :)

Interactive hobby with forum support from the guys
Sports feeds
Good HD
CFL
OZ football
Able to poke tongue out at DN & DTV
Keeping up my languages not spoken in US
Hearing the different slants in News around the world

Agreed, and #5 is very important to me... Also, now that I am a C-Bander, NASA in beautiful HD! I couldn't keep my eyes off the HD video I got during the last mission...

I have to list them this way.

1. Pastor Peters on ku on sat 97. and other talk radio on 97.
2. The challenge
3. Fairly wholesome tv.

The reason I got into FTA...

I can't resist free stuff. Granted I've shelled out more than a few bucks for the equipment, but the channels are free.

1. As someone mentioned, after many hours and $$$ spent you have free TV alternatives in all their regional variety.
2. New knowledge gained is of immediate practical value and comes surprisingly handy in other related fields.
3. Sense of accomplishment is more easily and faster achieved than in some other hobbies like yacht or airplane building. :)
