UPGRADE SD DVR TO A 612 WITH 1000.4 NOT A GOOD IDEA?

I am upgrading my travling (boat-camper) dish to HD and begining to think that it may not that good of an idea. The Dish 500 mounted on the boat can take a fair amount of movement in the slip and retain the signal. Camping, setup it is a quick and dirty.
Is the 1000.4 as hard as it sounds to point?

Yep. You really should be using a good meter when pointing as opposed to the point dish screen on the receiver.

Its gonna be tricky to point it as mentioned before, can you possibly use a non-pen mount in front of your boat when it is in the slip or something more solid to mount to?

Ok, well I am in it now. On the 1000.4, after it is pointed, can I use a single cable out of the dish? If so can it be come from 1,2, or 3?

Yea one cable will work as long as you have a dpp separator.Either of the 3 ports will work fine.
