I was wondering if you can use a external hard drive on a Vip 211,now i use this external for my Vip 722 but was wondering if i can watch recorded shows from the external on the 211?

While you can use an EHD on a 211 for DVR purposes it is not interchangeable with the 722 which is a real DVR.....

The $39.99 EHD is for the whole account. Doesn't matter how many 211's, 612's, 622's or 722's you have.
Wrong, there are two different fees. $39.99 to activate the DVR feature on the 211 receiver and another $39.99 to activate the EHD feature on the 612/622/722 receiver. So if you want to activate the DVR feature on a 211 and the EHD feature of a 722 on the same account you're looking at paying a one time fee of $79.98.
EHD can be changed between dvr receivers, or the non-dvr receivers with non-dvr's but not between a dvr and a non-dvr.
NOPE U R Wrong!!! I just order the EHD for my 2 211k's, 1 622 and 1 722. I was only charged a one time fee of $39.99. I paid with my credit card over the phone and was charged $39.99 for all 4 receivers.
Interesting...and I hope your right. It goes against everything I've seen posted here, but that's awesome.
So, one would think...if you had it on your account...and you have a 922...once they enable EHD on that, it'll be ready to go!

I had the 622/722's setup for EHD's for 39.99. Went to add the 211 last week and the receiver came up not authorized.... Had to pay another 39.99 to activate it. They are separate charges... appollog must have got through the cracks..
