Yes.. it has off air tuner built in.

But I have another question. Does the VIP 222 have a pass through option to allow the TV to automatically adjust rez according to broadcast rez? As it is now, I have to go into the options in my 811 and manually adjust for 1080i for my OTA HD.. And when I flip back to regular SD I have to go back.. and manually adjust for 480i again.. Its a pain. I have a 4:3 size HD sharp TV. So there is no other way unless I want my picture to get cropped with the zoom.. The one thing that I really miss with my old Comcast SA box was it had a pass through option that worked like a charm.. I am hoping that Dish put the passthrough option in the newer VIP series..

The 222 is not announced.

No Dish receiver so far does a pass through other than raw RF, like on a 501.

Did you try the 4:3 options #1 and #2 on the More menu of the picture setup? Menu-6-9-More on a 921.
