Having gone from DirecTV to Voom. Now I'm considering going back to
DirecTV now that Voom is historical. I was a little surprised just how
infrequently they come up in this group. Why is Dish considered the
next logical choice for you guys?

Not for me. I had D* installed last week.

ja

These are my reasons.
1. Price for initial investment. With Vomm it was easy - free install with two HD receivers. D* - it will cost more then $600 for two regular HD receivers. Even if you consider $200 rebate from D* it will be much more then I pay to E* for HD DVR 942 and HD 811.
2. Someone can tell that with D* you own receivers, with E* it is a lease. But at this moment I don't want own soon to be obsolete (MPEG4 issue) receivers.
3. E* offers discounts for programming that are equal almost to D* rebate.
4. Cancelation fee for E* is prorated and = $10/month for two years. So it will be not hard to make a jump as a new subscriber to D* if (!) D* will deliver more and better HD.
5. I know, E* is not V*, but I will give them another chance.
6. As for cable. It was another option. When they deliver chanells 2-97 digitally with decent PQ I will consider cable too.

Dish /Dtv ? from Voom

From what is being posted in a lot of areas and on other sites as well it looks to be that the most of the Voomers are hoping that Dish will possibly take over the Programming in some capacity and be providing it through their service .

Just a little glimpse of hope at the end of the tunnel for the Voomers from what i see.

I Got Dish

I Went To Dish Hoping For Voom21 To Show Sooner Or Later In The Program, Also They Give You Hd Reciver For Free Direct Tv Wants $$$$$$$ For The Hd Recivers :)

Free HD receivers and proven working HDDVR for over a year now. PQ a
smidget better. HDDVR $550 not $999 and apparently a rental HDDVR.
Programming a little less with Dish. As of today talks about taking
over some or all of the Voom orginals. How sweet that'll be finally be
able to record some of Vooms orginal programming.

Re: [VOOM] Re: Dish Dish Dish... Why no DTV?

DTV wants $995 for their DVR. That was enough reason for me & I too came to Voom from DTV.

RE: [VOOM] Re: Dish Dish Dish... Why no DTV?

Dish has a rental HD DVR? I thought is was a lease w/$250 up front? That's
not renting in my world.

$4.95/mo added cost for my Comcast 6412 HD DVR. The bar's been set.
