I subscribe to Home Theater magazine and got my new issue today.
There is a big review in it of Voom/DTV and Dish. The writer called up as a
regular
customer instead of as a writer so he got the same service joe blow would
get.

Can you guess the results of the review?

Voom customer service is the worst (had really bad service)
Voom installation is the worst (had a really bad install)
Voom installer was an idiot, clueless and unprofessional (my words but end
result same)
Voom SD channels look the worst compared to the other two providers

Now the good news ;

Once you get up and running correctly, Voom is hands down the best HD
provider of the three.
DVR due out soon. I don't have the article at my computer right now but
after all that bad
stuff, he really praised Voom and it being the best choice for those wanting
HD content.

Your comments on VOOM's SD picture quality is not entirely accurate.
The author stated that the results were HIGHLY variable with some
channels looking better on Dish, others on VOOM and others on D*. The
really innane part of the review was that the author was using a 34"
Phillips HDTV to perform his evaluations. There is simply no way that
a consumer 34" HDTV should be used to evaluate HD PQ. The screen is
simply too small to see the differences.

[VOOM] Re: Home Theater Magazine article

I don't know if this is relevant, but my three kids have 20" - 30"
tv's in their rooms and VOOM looks awesome on all channels except the
ones with the sparklies and the know junky ones like tennis, fox
sportsworld. I don't think SD looks any different on my cable, direct,
dish or voom on small tv's.

Their evaluation of customer support was right on target. Read my post
(VOOM LIES). I have been a VOOM customer for 10 months and you will
be surprised at what you read.
