I am sitting down here in northern Broward county Florida watching local OTA coverage of Hurricane Frances. I am about 25 miles from the Palm Beach county antennas and about 12 miles from the Dade(Miami) antenna farms. The strange thing is that I am getting better OTA signals from WPB than Miami and the storm is actually coming ashore in Palm Beach county now. We are getting tropical storm force winds and heavy rain and the only problem I'm, having is intermittent audio breakup. My satellite reception is excellent for both HD and SD. I am not having Any rain fade at all with my 24" antenna,

Loving my Voom in South Florida :)

Bob

If there were ever something worthy of a commercial against cable tv's
claims that satellite reception goes out when it rains, this is it!!

MessageWilt,
Speaking of storms and rain fade....What do you think of this....? I posted it on the 4DTV forum but not vOOM bedcause I don't want to start a 'false" rumour.

"I got approval from VOOM a couple of months ago for an upgrade to a 24" dish. because of all the rain fade and outages. That's the good news.
The installer called back then and said he is waiting for the dish to come in. Then I called him back a couple of weeks later and he said he had it and would call me back to let me know when he could install it. I live a bit off the beaten path. Anyway this has gone back and forth for over a month now with no upgrded dish installed. I called yesterday because we were going to set it up for this week and he said he no longer has the dish because VOOM had all inventory shipped back so that they could get a complete and accurate inventory count for their upcoming public offering. When this was done they would ship him back the dish and he would come and install it.
Being a bit of a cynic, I can't help but wonder if this is the straight story."

two questions:
1) True story from installer?
2) will I ever get the larger dish installed?

Iff story is correct it could explain why no one has followed up on the items in my prevous emails to you.
Thanks.
