Well another night that I am unsure of. Please, please do not think I am a bozo, this is really frustrating. I set a individual timer to 1 for Station 19 and a few minutes into the show it quit the show. Changed the individual time for Station 19 to 2 and it continued on to Gray's Anatomy. Set an individual timer for The Neighbor to 2 and that continued on Bob Loves Abisola. Does it make a difference if the show was already recorded? Does it matter if Prime Time is in the schedule? Am I missing something?

What do you mean by "I set a individual timer to 1 for Station 19"? I understand that by Station 19 you are referring to the name of an ABC network program but it's the "set and individual timer to 1" that has me bumfuzzled.

Were you creating manual timers or selecting the Station 19 program from the guide and requesting that a future program be recorded that way? I think if you have PTAT enabled and try to record a program that PTAT is already going to record, it will skip the recording.

When you have Prime Time Anytime (PTAT) enabled, if you open the DVR recordings, the first icon you will see is for ALL the PTAT programs, all four networks during prime time for eight days. If you do not see that icon I presume you do not have PTAT enabled.

My Hopper 3 behavior seems to indicate that if I have PTAT enabled and try to record a local big 4 channel during prime time with an individual recording, it will fail because that program is already scheduled to be recorded by PTAT and the Hopper will not record the same channel on two timers at the same time.

I went to the timer tab and selected edit, to change the timer. I open the DVR programs and the first icon is Prime Time Anytime. So if I want to watch a program I should goto home, my recordings, see all?
Why is there a DVR button when there is a Prime Time
options? If I have PTAT why do I not see the kangaroo options for using the features? Should title this "Very Confused in Arizona" Keep asking questions, please. Thinking is required

To watch a recording just press the DVR button on the remote. That will list cons for all the recordings you have set up plus the Prime Time Anytime icon where you can watch any or all of the big 4 networks recorded during the last eight days.

The kangaroo icon only appears when auto hop is available and that varies by network and station owner. Most stations owned by the networks have forced Dish to delay auto hop for a week, I believe Fox has delayed auto hop three days, anyway it varies all over the place, that's why I don't even consider using it unless I've delayed watching more than my usual next day watching. When auto hop was first introduced, it took effect the next day, but the networks did not like that and when the next negotiations came up they pushed it back several days up to eight - it varies widely and is confusing, don't worry about it. If its there you may use it..

I think you are over thinking all this. If a program is on one of the big 4 AND there is no dispute, just look for the programs you want to watch by pressing DVR then selecting the Prime Time Anytime icon for the complete PTAT list. Recordings you schedule on other channels will be listed when you press the DVR button on your remote. Not to add more confusion, but when you are in the DVR you can press the options button on the remote and change the sort to either alphabetical or by date recorded. There you can also adjust timer defaults (for new timers you create - existing timers are changed one by one).

Since I came from a Directv world, no doubt I am looking for close to what I had. You had asked an interesting question about timers. Yes I had set timers manually to try and not start playing the next program. Last night I checked some of the timers and they where all se to 2, which is same as system parameter. Will try one at 0. Thank you and everyone for the help. Moving on to setting up favorites.

Recording with PTAT records ALL that evenings programs as one block. Just press Select then select Stop to exit the recording at any time.
Interesting, the way I have been recording is to goto the guide and the time & channel and press select. It gives you options however, the one I have been using is "record new series"
