Just purchased my third HD TV (Samsung)! I'm already using 2 VIP 622 (For 4 TV's) receivers. I need a third DVR/HD receiver and just spoke to "E" and they told me that I would have to purchased my third receiver for $549.00. Do I have any other options?

I'm on a month-to-month (No Contract) at this time! I have been with "E" for over 5 years now. I did notice that I could switch to "D" (With Five Receivers) for cheapter that staying with "E". "D" even has my locals in HD where "E" has told me for five years that it was coming to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Still no Local HD'S channels! What would you all do?

Call customer service and have them transfer you to the customer retention department and explain the situation to a customer retention csr as it is their job to keep you as a dish customer and they can offer you the best option possible to keep you with dish network and make you happy. They have options to offer you that a regular csr does not so it would be worth a shot and I don`t think there is a direct line to the retention agents you will need to call 800-333-3474 and just tell the csr you are calling to disconnect and you need to speak with a customer retention agent.

Do so at your own risk... You're the customer, and are liable to get EXACTLY what you ask for. Some have learned not to do this the hard way.

Oh... and they can't waive the tuner limit. ; )

They can do whatever they want in order to keep a customer(within limits) and there is no downside as you are indicating as they stated if they are going to have to purchase a new unit at that price that direct tv was their option. It is a win/win situation as if they are not willing to buy an hd receiver and the option is going with direct tv then that is the case so give the customer retention department a chance to make an offer as that is their job to keep customers if they can do so in a reasonable manner.

Yes but even the retention dept. can't over ride the 4 tuner lease requirement.

Do you know that for a fact? In order to keep a good customer they can make things happen as I know for a fact they will offer dvrs for much less than what you can buy one for or arrangements that are not available on a normal basis so waiving the 4 tuner limit would not be out of the realm of possibility. At the very least they can offer a price to purchase an HD receiver for much less than the regular price with a monthly credit to discount it even further so as I said it is a win/win solution. If they do not make an off you feel is fair then go ahead and have them disconnect you or do it at a later date and sign up with direct tv, which is what they said they were going to do anyway. People post things on here that have no idea what they are talking about as I see it every day so it is not like you can take it as gospel when one of these posters tells you something like "even customer retention can not waive the 4 tuner max requirement". As every time you call into dish you can get a different response so call and give it a shot you have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain and you never know they might just have an offer you can`t refuse. I assure you there is someone at some point that will find a way to get around the 4 tuner max lease requirement now it may be they have to purchase a receiver at a reduced cost or they may only offer you a 211 as an additional tuner but there is a solution to your problem if you find the correct channels and pursue it with the proper attitude and perserverance.

Its different than this situation, but I went in to the retention dept, and let them know my situation and what i had to work with, and we worked out a fair and reasonable resolution which they keep me, and i lowered my bill by about 1/3 without giving up much of anything, and i didnt need to make a new commitment. Let them work their magic, and as long as you dont ask for the moon and work with them, they may be able pull strings to get you aroudn the rules (I got DVR Advanatge without signing up for Auto-pay or paperless)

Note that the new HD DVR gives them so new options. It counts as one not two tuners. Still has three tuners in reality.

People please.. cmon..

I mean yeah make it a valid call.. dont just call and ask for the cancellation department to see what they will give you free.. Call them and do a future disconnect for like a month that way you have time to view your choices. Dont call and pretend you will cancel to get free stuff.. you may get someone that will just cancel you...

If you cann to cancel, have in your mind that cahcnes are you will cancel.

Do future discos. Dont call the same day to cancel.

it depends on the agents and your pay history.

When i was with them and got customers calling just to get free stuff, i would just cancel them or give them a tiny offer. Account specialist usually are not as ignorant as front line csrs.
