Cancelled Directv today with a pending disconnect on 11-7. The rep. told me I don't have to return my rec. What are the chances they will change their mind and want it back? I was given a confirmation number.

The rec. was a HR-24 if that makes any difference.

you should get an e-mail telling you to recycle it. i would put it in a folder and hold it for 300 years. they might come back and charge you for it. now on the other hand when we upgraded to the gemini box they told us to recycle our old C61K client. it costs em more to retrive the boxes than there worth.

Just for fun I clicked the reconnect offer under my account. They offered a 100.00 Visa and the message below.

122.98/mo. w/req’d ARS fee of $15/mo. & Regional Sports fee of up to $17.99/mo. + taxes, fees, autopay & paperless bill, for 24 mo. w/NO TERM agmt. This was for Choice.
My question is if there's no term agreement why are they wanting autopay and paperless bill to be agreed to for 24 months. Is this some kind of price lock offer?

Could be they're just asking for paperless because it saves them $, and autopay because it reduces default cancellation risk. Without mandating 2 year stick.

Never take the first offer, they should get better closer to your disconnect date.

And that is not much of a offer, with taxes and fees, still about $150 a month.

I know. They will have to do better than that to get me back.

they offered us 97.00 for the choice no autopay and no contract since were using the same boxes. but no 100.00 prepaid visa card!!! we told em that's not good enough they would have to do better. 2 days later the win back called and made us an offer were paying 130,00 for the premier pack and mgm plus and hd movies pack two rooms and protection plan

curious why you pay for protection plan? It was nice when they released hardware regularly, but these days there's nothing to upgrade to. if equip fails, they replace it free, so curious what the advantage is nowadays?

Just for fun have you tried calling the win back dept

not yet. Do they have a special number?
Do not call the win back department, if you do so, they will know/believe your cancellation is a bluff.

That is why the best deals is right before the cancellation date or a week or two after.

just got rid of it. it makes no sense to keep it no new hardware is being released remotes you can get from amazon or solid signal

I finally took an offer when my disconnect date was coming.
I took 70 bucks of Premier for 12 months. It may not be the best deal I could get, but I was only mad because they wouldn't continue the 20 off for 12 months for Choice or whatever it's called.
They have already credited the first payment of 70, plus for this month only I should still get my final 20 credit as it is still listed for Nov.19
