When Everything turns MPEG-4

What do you think will happen when E* turns off the lights on the MPEG-2 HD channels? Obviously, we will need to get the 211s at that point, but would they grandfather us cheapskates in so that we could continue to get the programs we are subscribed to, or do you think we would be forced into one of the metallic tiers? Has there been any precedent in the past or is the mpeg transition too radical to really compare to previous transitions?

I ask because I am cheap!
