Totally different animals. I wouldn't even call it a lead unless an actual non internet provider does it. And some of the stumbling blocks long discussed are mentioned in the articles.

Dish'es reply to smaller bundles

Maybe Dish can see what is coming and is going to try and make up the difference in hardware fees?

Networks were in control yesterday and today, not so sure about tomorrow. Looks like things are beginning to crack open. You don't give any of these new products/services a chance at disrupting the whole market?

Perhaps what needs to happen is what Hulu is doing. New stations / content to compete with what is out there today on a lower cost scale. If they would offer a really cheap or free package and have an option to have it with commercials for less than the paid version then they would do like the networks used to do, generate more income for each person viewing the commercials. The internet is a really cheap way to put yourself out there to the masses.

Then the likes of google will try to expand along with other competitors that will offer internet as their main service instead of television.
