If you only subscribe to a Mega or Super International package ONLY without any locals or Dish 100/200/250 package, then $10.00 will be added??? Am I right????

Looks to me like a lot of the mega and super packs are dropping $10 for a net change of zero.

Seems the idea is to encourage people to get an English pack (and perhaps encourage people with English packs to add international). Probably a smart business move.

Scott, I re-read your post a couple of times and I believe I can't understand which would be the customers paying this new $10/month international access fee - will those be only the ones that only subscribe to international channels with Dish? Granted, the ones with only locals + international channels will have an increase from 9.99 to 10 in the locals fees.

If you just sub to Int'l and nothing else.....$10 BS fee...exception is Great Wall and Chinese Elite package
If you have Int'l + locals only....no Fee (locals are $10 already)
Int'l and other packages (120, 200, etc)....no fee

Isn't the locals only cost $5.99 or $5.00 with any Super and Mega International subscription??? First time I heard of $10.00 for locals.

The price decrease probably mean some packages no longer get too many customers.

It seems like Dish is trying to compete with Direct TV prices where customers must pay $12 more for locals and those Home Shopping channels.

Can someone or Scott confirm this?? I called Dish Network to see how much locals really cost with a Mega or Super Package and the staff told me locals are included on all Mega and Super Package.

Is this true?

Don't be fool by Dish Network new prices on Internationals.

I found out Dish can decrease prices on certain package to grab more new customers, than raise the price back up within 3 months. I found out from a friend one package (maybe a package with 5-6 channels) decrease the price, than went back up within 3 months and now, GONE.

I think it was February that if you got locals with no other base package it was 9.99 which is better than what it use to be. USe to be 5.99 + 6.00 Dish BS fee (for no base package)

Looks like a price decrease to me, especially with their most popular packages for Arabic and Hindi.

A few customers will go up, but a majority will go down.

I presently get an annual subscription rate (12 months for the price of 11 months) on my Arabic Elite Package. The website only shows the monthly rate. Did they discontinue the annual rates? Is the annual rate available on the Arabic Elite Super Pack? I will probably switch packages if it is.

Also, it appears that all of the Arabic channels are now availiable on 61.5 & 118.7? In the past, only some of them were available on 61.5 and I would need to add another dish to my 1000.4 for 118.7 to get them all. Did Dish change their plans to have 118.7 as the source for international channels?

Thanks,

Bob

The annual subscriptions are probably still there. They will just be a different price when you renew. Dish has been haphazard on where they are putting internationals between 61.5 and 118.7.

So, any updates on this new pricing?

The website still shows the old pricing and CSRs are not aware of any price changes.

Also, what kind of dish would I need in order to get 118.7? I currently have EA and also a wing dish pointed to 110. Since I get almost nothing from 110, can the wing dish be repointed to 118.7? Or do I need a different type of dish?

you need a different dish & LNB. 118 uses KU band circular polarity (11.7-12.2)...DBS is 12.2-12.75

Since you are on EA they add a D500+ and plug the 118.7 output to the EA dish (or switch if you have one)

With the cost for labor and material, I cannot for the life of me see how this makes financial sense for Dish to go with this wing dish requirement for 118.7.

Isn't there enough capacity on the EA satellites to include the international channels?
