I missed a called tonight from Dish Network following up on the Roku. Does anyone know what the point of the call is?

They are wanting to see if they are being used for the intended purpose, or not....(to watch AMC shows).

They called my neighbor, said sorry they are all out of Roku and it wont be delivered like they thought. They gave him $10 off a month for a year on top of the other discount. That equals out to $120.
Dish must be thinking they will never return AMC if there talking a year.
The also offered the Sports pack for free for a year but he hates sports so he turned that down.
All this just for missing AMC.

Nearly all such calls will end up as dead air on your VM unless you answer. Many times, even if you do.

In response to DISH taking away its customers' favorite scripted drama series on basic cable* -- The Walking Dead -- AMC is offering all DISH subscribers a special live stream of the hit show's season three premiere episode on Sun., Oct. 14, at 9PM ET/6PM PT on AMCtv.com. This streaming event will run concurrently with the television debut so DISH subscribers who are fans of the series can experience this highly-anticipated premiere at the same time it's available to all other cable and satellite subscribers.

Beginning Fri., Sep. 28 at 9 AM ET, DISH subscribers can register for access to the free live stream of The Walking Dead at http://www.amctv.com/thewalkingdead4dish/.

Uh huh, "register" for access? That way they get your email address, KNOW you are a Dish subscriber, and the "Dish doesn't carry us anymore" spam emails begin.

I want AMC back and I think it's terrible what Dish did to them, but I hate giving out my email address to companies that constantly SPAM it! Looks like it's time to sign up with a new email account over @ "biteme.com" ;)

Called dish yesterday and they said they are "working out an agreement" and they are shipping me a roku box for free can't get anything off my bill cause I'm an employee and already get aep for free just about

Did they happen to mention anything about still working out an agreement with the YES, MSG, or SNY networks? Or maybe to bring VOOM back? Just wondering....

The Free Streaming part is just a trick don't fall for it.
They do this so you will remember just how good the show is, then the next week they wont offer it, but they will for sure send you an email stating that DireCTV still has it. They may even offer you an extra $20 to switch to someone else.

They will also take the data on how many DISH Customers watched it so they can use the info in negotiations for a better settlement with Dish.

One could also look at it the other way, if every dish customer signed up and watched it, AMC would take the data to show Dish, see, you really must settle and add back AMC as they really do watch it- they could switch to someone else if you dont.

I'll certainly take advantage of the free stream from AMC.Live at the same time as tv and saves me $3.That's one thing I don't like about having to use the roku and amazon, having to wait till the next day.

I never watched till the next day anyway, yes on the $3.00...except Dish gave me more than enough credits to offset.

Most shows I do dvr and sometimes watch the next day.The exceptions are TWD and Breaking Bad.I always recorded them but basically time shifted.Especially being the premiere with last seasons cliffhanger of TWD.

I reconnected with Dish shortly after AMC was dropped and was full well expecting it to be resolved by now. That said, I'm pretty bummed I'll be missing TWD's season premier (I'll be working). I will sign up for the stream and catch it on Amazon the following night though.

I really hope IFC is back by Portlandia.

[h=1]AMC Networks Charges Dish Network With “Bad Faith” In Day 1 Of VOOM Trial[/h] By DAVID LIEBERMAN, Executive Editor | Friday September 28, 2012 @ 5:54pm EDT

Not only do they finally have a jury, lawyers presented opening arguments today in AMC Networks’ $2.5B breech of contract suit against Dish Network. And lawyers representing AMC seemed to draw blood by ”repeatedly highlighting Dish’s systematic, bad faith, year-long destruction of evidence during the critical stages of this dispute,” says Susquehanna Financial Group’s Thomas Claps, who’s tracking the proceedings. He says that this “will be impactful in determining the outcome of the case.” The trial will determine whether Dish had the right in 2008 to terminate its 15-year deal to air the VOOM Networks suite of HD channels. The defunct channels, formerly owned by Cablevision, were packaged with AMC when the cable company spun off the network operation this year. Dish’s contract with VOOM required backers to spend at least $100M a year on the channel. The big question is whether spending devoted to overhead and for overseas activities should count. AMC says it should; Dish says it shouldn’t — which would mean VOOM fell short of the $100M threshold. On Monday jurors likely will hear Cablevision founder Chuck Dolan’s side of the story.
