FIRST LOOK - Hopper OTA Module

I am talking about the team that adds new R CA receiver codes into the update list. They have they day off. There not there to roll the list back if there are issues so they try to add new codes so they update on business days which would be this Monday at 1am. Watch this thread monday when many more wake up to the new software.
The post you mentioned is for a 722 from friday updates in final phase of the rollout happen any night that there are no recordings set. This was just his first avl free night, nothing to do with the OTA update.
Range for Friday= Receiver Card Numbers R1881149252-R1881288030

I've had S229/S278 (now S230/S278 ) since Tuesday. So far no problems at all. OTA works great! Hopefully everyone still on S222 will get updated soon.

i don't know if this was asked previously, but can you access the USB OTA module from the joeys if the hopper is not using it? or the joey need to join the hopper? the OTA module ever goes to available in the tv viewing status?

A Joey can connect to the OTA Tuner just like one of the Hopper Tuners. If you change the station at the Joey, it changes for everyone as the OTA Tuner can only tune one station at a time.

I don't know if this was a reception problem or is it in OTA module problem. Today I set the ota to record the Raider New Orleans football game via OTA, about 3 minutes into the recording it froze however, the timer bar the bottom of the screen showed about an hour recording. I could not fast forward and the picture remained froze and showed live TV.

Full signal strength but blank screen

Installed the module this morning. It scanned and found all my locals, most have 100% signal. 3 times now when I have left an over the air channel when I tune back the program banner shows, when I hit info the signal strength is full but the screen is blank. Re Scanning finds them agin and agin it worked for a while. Now when I rescan it finds all the stations again but they are all blank. Don't want try a hard reset now as we are in PTAT. Is the module flaky at first and maybe after shut down tonight it will be stable?

No flakiness here. I have picked up channels that are in the low 70s and still work without flaws. The weather is very fair though at the moment and all the trees have lost their leaves. We' see how it goes when the weather hits and when the trees grow back.

No it's not amplified. I am 30 miles fro towers the signals range fro 73 to 100. I just rescanned and they can be tuned to again and get a picture. I'm just afraid if I set something to recorded I'll record a blank screen.

If you are getting that strong s signal then you may need an attenuator to keep your OTA tuner from overloading.

Another thing is the guide. Some of the sub channels have guide info. Does anyone get guide info for ME Tv?. Here it is on 4.2.

Yep got guide data for ME TV here. Some channels are missing guide Ada though. Maybe I'll contact DIRT.

Btw for the strong signals that don't work it could be multipath.

Just saw the black screen full signal thing.on a Joey a few hours ago. Reset the Joey and it didn't help. Checked the Hopper and it was doing the same thing. A red button reboot did the trick. So if you have that issue, try a red button reboot. Other than that one incident everything's peachy!

So when you say "full signal" is the signal strength at 100? Could it be that the signal is too strong and is overloading the tuner?

Was happening on channels with 100 strength and channels with 69 strength which were otherwise working fine. Was some kinda weird bug. Didn't say anything about signal loss just a black screen with no sound only on OTA channels until I reset the Hopper.

First time it happened since I got it 4 days ago though, so hopefully it was just a random flub.

That is exactly my scenario.
