The deals some of the cable companies got might not be so good for their customers that live outside of the sec footprint and want this channel. I don't know if its true or not but I heard if you got Comcast and live outside of the sec and want this channel you will have to get it on their preferred package

Working on it and in negioations and all of that is just PR.

Facts:

DISH has a "most favored nation" deal, as do the major cable systems. That means no deal better than DISH's can be given to DirecTV. So, here is how you "work on it".

YOU SIGN THE CONTRACT.

DirecTV must be 'luxury TV". Every channel, period. If you want "good enough" TV, you go elsewhere.

Your whole post is about PR and no facts.
Promise me to post back when BOTH Dish and Direct are watching the first game on the SEC network together.:)

Nope, they use Directv. :D

(obviously this would only be an issue if they dont add it, and they willl, just saying)

That was just an example. I only have a ton of sports bars around me, and several have both satellite (usually Directv) and Xfinity service. I wont miss a beat. Aunt and Uncle also have a nice 60" LG plasma I helped them setup, and a Hopper ;)

If SEC Network is part of Watch ESPN, I wont even leave the house!

Don't panic...

Everything I have read indicates it will have its own stand alone app type streaming service.
i have watch espn with my cable service. it is in app format for cell phone or tablet. but you can also access it on computer. i watched a few UCF football games last year on my mac via espn 3.

You are correct. They can't say they have reached a deal with them until that deal is signed. Until then they must keep mum and say they are working on it.

Again while a rumor I am hearing more and more buzz that the deal is done, its just down to finalizing the contracts which in this case means making changes to some of the current ESPN/DISNEY contracts DIRECTV already has due to the addition of the online apps and other online and VOD rights. (Aka make sure DIRECTV does no add commercial skip to its DVR's etc..)

But until the contract is signed they will keep on saying they are working on it... well because.... they are working on it. :D

Yes, and I assume the SEC network will give similar access. My point was that by what I have read, it wont be included with any watch espn access you may have. It will be separated.

I would think it almost has to be. And I bet if there is a stand alone app for the sec network it will be out asap for android unlike the lack of the Longhorn network app

I was hoping it would be within the WatchESPN universe. Its simple, an App on my phone and Roku's.

from what i read, it sounds like we would get the entire watch espn app with sec network included. i haven't been able to find out if this deal is a renewal of dtv's deal with disney? or just for sec network. scott's latest post leas me to believe it is the entire disney deal.

somebody please correct me if i am wrong.

This sounds just about right.

I know there are DirecTV subscribers who have sensed that DirecTV may not reach a contractual agreement to carry SEC Network (or do so in time before it launches on August 14); but I think this is one new programmer, unlike then-new ones of Pac-12 Network, SportsNet LA, and Comcast SportsNet Houston, that cannot be avoided even by a fussy DirecTV.

If this means a better deal will be made to carry Disney/ABC programming, and hopefully all applicable ESPN suite, then it's worth the wait of having seen other companies strike carriage deals before DirecTV.

the first game isn't until august 28. yet there are a plethura of people who say they will switch providers if a deal isn't reached by august 1. i was in the military too many years. i know the meaning of hurry up and wait. i'm not going anywhere.

that said i would hope bright house will be on board by the end of august. i also have cable beside dtv.
