Wayward Pines

Back in 1990 it played for a year or less. The same type of mystery and weird characters.

It isn't at all the same type of mystery, but that said, I have watched a couple episodes. Maybe if I get bored, I'll watch more, but it hasn't grabbed me, and I know what the story actually is.

Books are always better than the TV version 99% of the time .... if you already know whats going to happen, your waiting to be let down, therefore it's never as good as you hope.

Watched all four episodes this afternoon and I think it is pretty good. Seems to be mostly following the first book so far.

I watched part of episode 2. They are starting to change up the character roles a bit from the book, but so far it remains interesting.

Introducing Ethan's family they way they did changes a couple of plot points from later books. I suppose some things have to be adapted for TV and to keep those of us who have read the books guessing a little.

Not at all what I expected. I don't really know what I was expecting but definitely not that. If this wasn't a limited series I would stop watching and it Fox gives it CBS' Under The Dome treatment, I will not be tuning in next year. I guess my biggest problem is this show just went from psychological thriller to sci fi and I don't like science fiction that much.

I think it is both psychological thriller and science fiction. But I read the books. I ended up watching episodes 3 and 4 today. Not bad. I saw the reveal occurs in episode 5, and I'll watch it soon, to see how they do it. They have already diverged considerably from the books with Ethan's family.

He didn't come upon an ancient broken-down Statue of Liberty, and a bunch of talking apes riding horses, lol (Though I think that would have been kind of cool!)

Maybe my memory is failing but I don't recall the First Generation kids in the book.

Nope. I just watched the episode. That was a big divergence from the books, but the kids did know about the Abbies. Nor did Ethan get so far out, and able to see the ruins of Boise.

Thanks for the confirmation. I don't really mind the changes too much but it does leave me scratching my head on occasion.

Compared with Under the Dome, this has been pretty close to the books, although in five episodes they are already well into book 2. So, it has been abbreviated. The other former FBI agent's character has changed quite a bit, as has how Burke's wife and kid got to Wayward Pines, but all pretty minor.

Although given how the third book ends, I'd be ok if they depart a bit more from the story. :)

I want to see them go back into hibernation, and wake up in the year 802,699 (3 years before Rod Taylor gets there with the time machine) and get eaten by Morlocks! lol

Well, I like it so far .... just watched the more recent episode ... it going to be interesting.

The kids are not allowed to tell the Adults about what happened ... how do all the Adults go on without asking questions, do they REALLY kill everyone that doesn't believe ?

Q. Why the week off ?
They finally get some momentum and then they talk a week off ?
