And that's why I said the PS 3 client never made it to the public, never said it didn't make it to some folks for testing. It's just a software app, if Roku wanted to write an app and get it certified don't see why it couldn't be released.

Sent from my iPhone using the SatelliteGuys app!
Yes, considering samsung's do this now. The backend is most likely the same just some code adjustments would be needed. I could see this becoming more of the standard as ATT is about bringing your own device to the table, like they are doing with DirecTV Now.

Doubt it since DIRECTV always likes to keep things simple for support purposes, you start throwing customers networks into the mix makes it more complicated.

I would not be surprised to see them start to allow/use ethernet instead of just coax. AT&T has been using and supporting ethernet in customer homes for a while, and their workforce has a lot of experience with it. Of course coax will always be there, and might always be preferred, but these days you're just as likely to have a pre-run cat5 than a pre-run coax at a TV location

I wonder what the sim card is for on it?

Ahh missed that, would be interesting if it also had a cell receiver built in. No more wiring to phone home. :)

The member that has been posting those photos gave me a comparison shot between the HS-17 and the HR-54. Plus he posted of photo of the front.

Wonderful, a new product that doesn't go with the rest of the equipment ...
Kinda hard to Stack them I'd say.

Yeh I thought headless was going to be cool at first but since they won't have Ethernet in the client boxes, unless they come out with new client boxes that have Ethernet, I don't see how people would like that in an entertainment center. Plus you would also have to have a two-way splitter if you did want both the HS17 and client box in an entertainment center. At the other site they say its 10.25" tall and 6.5" on each triangular side.

Looks like there was plenty of room for an HDMI output.

Guess I'm really not understanding this. This would be the main head, with the tuners etc.. in it. But then you would still need a mini at each tv, unless your tv was a RVU?

now i am bummed

when asked if an hr24 could connect to the hs17 here was the reply

"It should but no way to test. They only allow hs17 in system with clients. If cust has other boxes theyre using we have to install new dish for just hs17. Also it takes 11 tuners so you would only end up with 2 boxes (non client) max"

giving up a dvr for a client only system is a big step backwards.
i dont use pip, but as far as i know there is no client that can do it

I saw that and that sucks. It looks like DTV is moving to be like how UVerseTV is installed. They only install a server/client system. It also looks like you would need to have two dishes one for the HS17/Client system and one for the H/HR system.
