    E vs D

I'm setup much the same way and agree with everything but the national SD comment. SD is better on E* to my eyes.

NBA League Pass - Why so few games in HD?

NESN doesn't carry any NBA games.

Questions: Poor Picture Quality & Getting Out of 24-month Commitment

As far as looking for better PQ on E*, it really depends on what channels you're looking for. E* has better PQ on SD channels(D* has the worst SD I've seen out of 4 different providers) and a few HD channels like ESPN, ESPN2 and the HDNets. The rest goes to D*(except HD locals which vary by...

HD Channel Count Up - HD Quality Down

The new HD channels on Directv10 are better than anything on E*. However (as stated by others) channels like the two ESPNs and HDNets, look much better on E*. I'd also give E* the edge on HD locals PQ, but I think this varies by market (what encoders D* uses for each city, etc).

So is it HD-lite or not?

    Thanks!!

So is it HD-lite or not?

Yeah both of them, both show 720p(both tv's change resolution as well). It was 720p during the testing as well.

So is it HD-lite or not?

    Is A&E HD a 720p channel or a 1080i channel? Googling it indicates 1080i, but it's 720p on D*.

Image pixelation problem on some HD channels

Huh? Maybe I missed something but I've seen people complaining about audio dropouts on ESPNHD via D* and I stated that since the problem doesn't exist on E* nor Comcast, it's likely a D* problem.

D*'s REALLY trying to get the word out about the MPEG4 requirement

And you obviously have not viewed the HD LIL's from the Boston DMA on D*. The NBC and CBS look worse than what I used to get on BEV and NESNHD in MPEG4 is a joke.

Image pixelation problem on some HD channels

Considering there is no audio dropouts on E*, I'd say it's a D* problem.

    From E* to D*?

I like the native mode as well, it's a plus for the HR20. To me, DLB is definetly not overrated and a must for a DVR, especially for a sports fan. I just don't get why D* with all their emphasis on sports would neglect this.

    From E* to D*?

I have both the 622 and the HR20. The 622 is by far the better machine as it stands today. Responds better, has DLB's and a 30 second skip rather than "slip". I would think that going from the 622 to the HR20 will feel like a downgrade to most.

    Need service after "move"

Just "move" home to get the service call and then "move" back a few days after the work is completed. No big deal.

Is D* doing some True HD again????

Unless they do what their doing to MPEG4 NESN HD. Quickly that excitement will turn to disappointment and at least one cancellation of service (mine). Anyway, it's good to seem doing some full res. Hopefully it will all be that way.

I could careless about it as well. I think it's a waste of time.

D* already downrezzing HDLIL to 1440

I feel the same about those who blindly defend D* even when they are clearly in the wrong.

D* already downrezzing HDLIL to 1440

...station that's naturally 1080i to be converted to 720p? I'm kinda shocked by the way people are responding to NESN at 720p, like it's fine that D* is pulling a BEV. I'm also susprised that more people in the Boston DMA didn't notice the HUGE difference in PQ from about a month ago when they...

D* already downrezzing HDLIL to 1440

Trust me, NESN doesn't look better or even close to what it does at 1080i. 720p is fine if that is the actual resolution coming from the station, not something D* is converting.

D* already downrezzing HDLIL to 1440

I wish someone with a contact would ask why the hell they are showing NESNHD at 720p. Especially when they had it at 1080i for a good time.

Will DirecTV really ever be the leader

I've had all 3 sat providers (had Bell till 2 weeks ago) and to me D* is/was dead last in PQ of the 3. It wasn't even close.

    MHD question..

Probably not till D*10 is ready to go.

Thinking about signing up for DirecTV?

...few weeks ago when they had it at 1080i? It looked 1000 times better. I think it's very fuzzy and lacks detail currently. If that's the future of D*'s HD then I think the future is bleak. But perhaps I have a higher standard of what I consider a quality picture than you do. And yes...

Thinking about signing up for DirecTV?

I'd have hope too if they weren't converting the Mpeg4 version of NESNHD(I call it NESNSD Widescreen as that's what it looks like) to 720p. Makes me wonder if they'll do more of this "converting" in the future.
