ALL VOOM TO GO MPEG4 AUGUST 15th

Maybe they want to let the mpeg2 ride out the day and the changes will happen tonight.

That's a good guess. If we don't see them change over by tomorrow morning it will probably be another Dish delay for this conversion.

I'm really surprised they haven't moved Voom to mpeg4 yet. Maybe they want to let the mpeg2 ride out the day and the changes will happen tonight.

Yep, it's too far into the evening to switch them now. I'm guessing they'll do another all nighter at the uplink to do the cut.

Look on the bright side, would you have preferred the MPEG4 Voom's today or the new HD's today? If the Voom's don't get converted to MPEG4 until next week does it really make a difference in your service? Not so much....

I'm not complaining, I just thought they would have changed by now. I had CSN-Chi HD in my stocking this morning so I'm happy.:D

Since they didn't need the space to put up the new channels today, they've got until September 1st before they'll need some space (for History HD).

My TV is 1:1 and Voom channels used to have a black bar on the bottom with a thin line on the far left. This is now gone. However it seems to me that the PQ is worse. The Spanish Soccer game on Worldsport looks terrible every time there is fast movement. I never watch Family but the movie "It could happen to you" is on and looks pretty bad too.

No changes on the VOOMS yet

I wonder where the MPEG-4 conversion will take place. At VOOM or at DISH. It would be cool if VOOM were to make nice 1920x1080 MPEG-4 files and send them to Dish ready to uplink...

I just checked out Gallery and Kung Fu on satellite 129. It took a few seconds for the channels to lock to the new tps. The two differences in PQ I noticed were more depth and richer colors. The PQ reminded me of Food Network HD. Looked very good.

Need to Extend Satellite Cable.
