AT&T today announced that the company's ultra-fast gigabit "U-Verse with Gigapower" service has launched in a number of new markets, as well as expanded in a number of existing ones. AT&T's announcement notes that the service is now available in new portions of Chicago (Bolingbrook, Mundelein, Shorewood and Volo), Atlanta (Alpharetta, Cartersville, Duluth, East Point and Rome) and Houston (Hunters Creek Village and Rosenberg) as well as additional communities in Miami, Nashville and Orlando (23 expansions all told).

The price of the service once again varies depending on whether AT&T sees looming competition from Google Fiber in the market.

In the looming Google Fiber launch market of Atlanta, for example, standalone broadband service starts at $70 a month, TV and broadband starts at $120 a month, and the triple play of TV, voice and gigabit broadband starts at $150 a month. Compare that to markets like Miami, where users pay $110 for standalone gigabit broadband, $150 for TV and broadband, and $180 for the triple play.
